Sep 22, 2006 · I believe the only year that the adapter had a bearing in it was in 72. When I tried to get parts for it GM kept telling me that it was a 1 year only thing. I had a 350/205 in a 72 blazer and it did have the bearing in the adapter. It always leaked trans fluid to the transfer case. I just kept adding fluid to the trans and draining the transfer ...

Zulder, I'm quite sure the NP205 transfer case has had automatic transmission fluid, 30 weight motor oil, and yes even gear lube as factory approved lubricants over the years. If you were going to be running 90% street, I wouldn't hesitate to use ATF.the np203 case - since its chain driven uses 10w 30 motor oil. i think only the aluminum transfer cases used the atf. if you dont wanna use regular gear oil - you can do this - buy some synthetic gear lube - redline MTL gl4 is real nice stuff - its kinda expensive though like over $10 a quart. and that adds up real quick since the np435 and ...
