The OMC problems from this era are because of the Evinrude ficht fuel injected engine problems. The carb models are very strong and reliable. Engine looks virtually new, and has been stored for last 5 years due to damaged boat. He says it was fresh and ran very well in 2001 when it was stored.Mjreynolds928. Thanks. I changed the plugs and filters and put clean fuel with SeaFoam. I did the VRO bypass and mixed oil in with fuel. I replaced the top casting that has three seals and removed the bottom nut and casting to change the entire unit out. Once I put it all back together. the trim operates real slow and if I stop running it up, it slowly goes back down.
