Have a lot of empty soul gems of each size and stop using Soul Trap when you run out of a size. Alternatively, know how big the souls are of your enemies. No-name Draugr are petty, Scourges are Common, Deathlords are either Greater or Grand and all the others are lesser. I guess I just gave away my favourite enemies for filling gems. 😺
