Jun 27, 2018 · The "shift to park" message appears as soon as you attempt to power off the vehicle (see attached photo). Instead of bumping the handle I have been testing holding my foot on the brake pedal and wiggling the shifter handle then release both every few seconds. Then the message goes away 5-10 seconds later. Owner of a 2019 GMC Acadia. The first shift to park issue was "fixed" in Aug 2021 by the dealership replacing the entire shifting harness and sensor. We were told that would fix the problem. Here we are 2.5 years later and started getting the exact same message again and cannot shut the car off. Only this time the Warranty is up.

IMO .. . the new TSB repair is more time consuming than just replacing the whole shifter. GM should perhaps have dealers send the shifter core back to have the new parts retro fitted at a facility. Without a doubt more time consuming. Prior versions of the TSB paid .6 hours of labor for the repair on an Acadia. This part from GM seems to fix the shift to park issue for all GM vehicles with the same shifter.
