Yuzu has an early access version that supposedly has amazingly improved performance, making the Switch version of BotW actually playable on the Deck. I haven't tried it personally, but my news feed has been blowing up with it the past week or so. I'd look into that.The main problem is not Steam Deck's lack of power. The Switch is specifically constructed. The very details in the Firmware, OS etc the Switch use, are closed source. So, it is very hard to make a perfect emulator. So, even with the best Computer Hadrware, there are possibilities, that some Switch games will lag.

Try setting the "Scaling Filter" within the "Performance" tab of the right side menu to "FSR". You should immediately see an improvement. You shouldn't need to restart the game.Although Yuzu has come a LONG way in the past few months and probably for back-to-back BOTW and TOTK it's fine to use Yuzu for both now.
