If a creature is attacking your Prawn, deck it in the face a couple times and it will retreat. Plus even if the drill arm doesnt the Grapple really SHOULD, since where the drill really only used for farming you really do need thr Grapple it seems even with the jump upgrade to really be able to move around in the prawn in some areas.
