Hi everyone, i have an issue with my recently bought Rega Planar 2. I have the Rega Carbon stock cartridge and i realized when i put the volume very high ( not playing music ) i hear a very distinctive HUM. Normally the Rega grounding is OK because it is done by the RCA cable from the tonearm plugged into the receiver.But vintage turntables usually have more features, and much better specs. An early 80s Quartz Lock direct drive turntable is going to have wow and flutter values that modern turntables can only dream of. There are audio stores and Craigslist/OfferUp/eBay sellers that specialize in buying vintage turntables and restoring them.As some People already pointed out, it’s a better turntable than anything new you could get in that price range. It’s direct drive but doesn’t have a particularly powerful motor. I also use an at 3600 cartridge. As others have said, yes, it's good for the price/budget you have!
