Jan 12, 2010 · I've been having trouble getting the carburetor dialed in on my Vulcan 800. At this point, I'm not sure if my thoughts were correct, or if something else is causing the problem. It's a '99 VN800A with Cobra exhaust. I did the Russian Wolf EPA mod, and also drilled out the plug covering the air idle mixture screw. New to the forum and needing some advice. I recently purchased a 99 Vulcan 800 Classic for the wife. The problem I am having is that on cold start it stalls as soon as soon as you put it in 1st gear and the bike starts moving. It usually takes several attempts at revving really high on the throttle to finally get it going so that it doesn't stall.Seal the cracks in the intake manifold or get a new intake manifold. NOTE: Review Section 1 to determine if your bike is due for a recall, especially if you’re having issues with your intake manifold assembly. 4. Repeated Exhaust Backfire. Some W800 owners have reported experiencing exhaust backfires on their bikes.Rare Drifter. Unfortunately, the battery is currently too low to turn the starter motor due to multiple start up attempts and accidentally leaving the ignition on. In primary you will drain the whole tank out of gas and pri is only used to drain the tank or to start the bike after it has been sitting for a long time or after you have ran it out of gas. Speedometer stopped working. The speedo on out 1998 VN800a quit working on me. I took it off and tested it with a drill and everything forward of the rear wheel seems to be in good working order. I'm looking out at partzilla at the rear hub's diagram but can't make heads or tails of anything there.
I have this very similar problem on a 99 Vulcan 850 Classic. Starts great, runs down the highway, then cuts out. Few minutes later after switch is turned off/on it will start and run for a few more minutes. I keep thinking fuel/vaccuum problem, but electrical sounds plausible too. Front turn signals not blinking. 96 Vulcan 800 classic, front turn signals light up, but dont blink. The rears work fine. I have checked the relay (which tested good) but I replaced it anyway. The manual shows 2 wires per side green and black/yellow. On the bike theres 3 per side blue, black/yellow, and green on the left, white for the right.
