The game itself has difficulty zones. And the the map of the difficulties reveals that it's very organized. You have a low difficulty corridor from Sanctuary to Diamond City, and stuff gets more difficult the further east or south you head way from that corridor. The only exceptions are random encounter points, and some rare fixed encounters.I started on Survival difficulty. The differences which I know are: Enemies do 2x damage. Depends how good you are at shooters. It's pretty easy on normal (and I'm no COD multi-player) once you've gotten the power armor, and especially when you've upgraded it. Survival or very hard. At higher levels survival is less difficult and just more annoying. Like ya, I can sprint to the next obj one shotting everyone or have a vertibird pick me up, but I’d rather just fast travel and have to face some bullet sponge enemies to at least make combat last if I get spotted.

I'm not a big gamer, in the sense that I have no twitch skills and play every game that ever comes out. Frankly, I suck at games. But I find Fallout 4 to be quite easy. So complaining that the game is too hard is baffling to me. Just lower the difficulty if you need to!

Very hard if you want to plat the game a lot faster. Survival is the way to go though for pure pissin your pants, gut wrenching, hardcore enjoyment of the game.
