Aug 2, 2020 · 2016 LML intermittent power loss and recovery. Just did a 3K trip on my 2016 over 3 days. Once each day for about 5 minutes while running at interstate speeds I had a power loss with excessive black smoke. Each time it lasted about 5 minutes and then was back to full power with no indications ever of any problems. I went out to drive it and at first I had to put my foot all the way to the floor just to get to 1800 rpm. It seemed to get better as I kept driving (would go over 1800 rpm) but it still seemed rather sluggish. I could definitely hear an air leak somewhere where it sounded like it was sucking air.The 3.0-liter Duramax diesel made 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque; 95 percent of peak torque happened at 1,250 rpm.
