GE Transportation had its main locomotive plant in Erie, PA and was a huge employer until the early 2000s. However, it had begun declining as early as the 1950s. The southern part of Erie going toward Millcreek is better, far east in Harborcreek, far west in Western Millcreek and into Fairview. I think Fairview has the best schools, but anywhere outside of Erie is good. The schools in Erie are horrible except for Collegiate Academy, and students must be accepted to attend. 4.
