Eliminate all of the load on#17 and add them back one-by-one. Unplug the underhood light, turn off the radio, and close the doors. With the ignition OFF, replace fuse #17. See if it blows immediately.

Pull the access 2 fuse, same issue as before. Not blown, but the contacts were all little burned / corroded. Cleaned it up, popped it back in, everything is good as new. Here is the FSM page for ’05 showing the circuit. The first place to check is if the dome/courtesy lights are coming on when you open the door. If no, then check if the yellow/brown wire at the underhood light has 12v power. If no, the problem is between the fuse in the PDC & the light.
