What is the general consensus about the durability of the older Marlin leverguns vs. the current stock? BFPGW. All info and suggestions offered above are valuable. However, keep in mind what the "JM" stamp signifies. It is a proof mark applied to the barrel of a rifle that has been proof fired after assembly. The serial number is the most credible means of determining the DOM and lineage of a rifle.

Like they said $200 is a far price for one in excellent condition. $2600, must have been looking a something else. 100% blue book of gun values is $220. I'm looking around for a 336 but have come up with some pictures labeled 30a (glenfield). Comparing pictures I'm trying to figure out the difference between the 2. What can people tell me?
